How to give feedback

Someone has asked you to review a website or app and leave feedback with DevPin. It takes about a minute to learn, and you do not need an account or a password.

Leaving a piece of feedback

1. 1Find the Feedback button. Open the link you were sent. A small Feedback button sits in the corner of the page, on every screen. On the very first use it asks for your email so the team knows who left which note. You will not need a password or an account, and it remembers you on that device.
2. 2Click the thing that is wrong. Press Feedback, then click directly on the part of the page you mean, the crooked button, the wrong price, the typo. Pointing at it is better than describing where it is.
3. 3Draw on the picture. A picture of the page appears automatically. Circle, box, or arrow the problem so there is no doubt what you mean. This is optional but it saves a lot of back and forth.
4. 4Say what is wrong, and send. Write it however you would say it out loud. "This should be bold", "wrong logo", "does not work on my phone" are all perfectly good. Press Save and it goes straight to the team.

What happens next

Your note goes straight to the people building the site, along with a picture of exactly what you were looking at. You do not need to chase anyone or write a summary email.

When they think they have fixed it, you will get an email asking you to check. Open the link, look at the page again, and choose:

• Yes, it is fixed , that closes it. Nothing else to do.
• Still broken , it goes straight back to them, with whatever note you add. You are not being difficult; this is exactly how it is meant to work.

You are the one who decides when something is done. The team cannot close it on your behalf.

If they ask you a question

Sometimes the team needs a detail, most often "which browser or phone were you using?". They can reply to your note, and you will get an email with a link where you can read and answer. Everything stays attached to the original report, so nothing gets lost in a long email chain.

Some things worth knowing

• Write one note per problem. Five small notes are far more useful than one long list, because each can be fixed and closed on its own.
• It works on your phone. Tap to place a note and draw with your finger, exactly as on a computer.
• You cannot break anything. Leaving feedback does not change the site. Nobody else reviewing sees your notes on the page.
• Say it plainly. You do not need technical words. "It looks squashed" is genuinely useful.
• Do not put passwords or card numbers in a note. The picture captures whatever is on screen, so avoid pages showing private details.

Questions

Do I need to sign up? No. Enter your email once so your notes are attributed to you, and that is it.

Why does it want my email? So the team knows who reported what, and so they can tell you when it is fixed. It is not used for marketing, and every email we send has an unsubscribe link.

I do not see the Feedback button. Make sure you are on the exact link you were sent, and refresh the page. If it is still missing, tell whoever invited you , the button only appears for people they have added.

Can I see my earlier notes? Not as a list, but every email you receive links back to the specific note it is about.
